About

My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends –
It gives a lovely light.

Hi there–I think Eli has sent you back a message. In any case, feel free to come down to Lenkeran any time. We’ll be around.

    Hi Edna!
Im Anna from Hungary, and im starting a volunteer project in Baku this August for the organisation EVS.
Unfortunately i haven found many blogs of volunteers leaving in Azerbaijan, but seems you are there for a longer time.
I would like to have a contact with someone who lives there, for some practical questions.
If you think you can help me, please let me know. If you knwo some volunteers there, please also let me know!

    Thank you in advance,

    Anna

      Hi Anna,

My name is Lena not Edna. I recommend you check out Aaron’s blog because he writes more in depth about Azerbaijan than I do.

From his blog you can find a bunch of other blogs (by other volunteers and Azeribaijanis).

Do you have a couchsurfing account? Some of the current EVS-ers stationed in Baku are on couchsurfing…. you can find them there! Otherwise, feel free to post your questions here.

      Good luck.

      Lena

    Hi Lena,

Take off the video please. It wasn’t cool to bushwack a person like that and put a video of them online.

    Thank you,

No one forced him to say those things and he was aware I was filming. His name is not even in the video.

Will think about removing it… it is kind of an ugly video. But I don’t think it’s offensive (to who?) just because it shows a man callously expressing himself.

How did you find it anyway and why are you so bothered by it? And why did you make your name “will find”? That’s kind of creepy ;)

Nobody knew you were taping and posting to youtube or you would have been asked to stop. You show other people who were very hospitable to you and do not like to be in any videos. Please remove that video because you are hurting everyone but your intended target.

    Dear yelenashuster,

My name is Joyce and I work for ExpatFinder.com.
ExpatFinder.com is a free one stop website for people preparing to move or working and living overseas. We provide a myriad of services for expatriates and we have over 2,000 articles to help and support the people moving around the world and we are now creating an interview section to help the expats with real life experiences!
We quite enjoy your blog about living in Azerbaijan, it is very interesting and informative. Would it be possible to interview you to further share some of your tips and feature some of your first hand experience as an Expat and your interview will be published on our Expat Interview section as a guide for our expat readers. The questions are mainly about the day to day lifestyle of an expat. If it would be possible, could you also send some photographs that we can use?
Of course, if you accept, we can add a link to your blog or some of your website.
The questions are enclosed, feel free to respond freely. You can return the doc with your answers if you accept this invitation.
Thanks in advance and do let me know if you prefer other means to conduct this interview and we would be happy to accommodate your terms.

    Best regards,
    Joyce
